Hey WHAT are we really EATING!! Food in its raw form is usually the best! Why are we paying to be poisoned! Who knew – I read this article and thought I was being cautious! Did not even consider my soy protein powder.
Soy is the cheapest protein available today, and it is a major component of most animal feeds. Cheap soy protein allows chickens to grow the fastest, and produce the maximum amount of eggs during their peak laying cycles. So why do Rob and I pay more for organic, soy-free chicken feed? Why do we read labels and avoid eating highly processed soy products like the plague?
Because soy beans are very high in phytic acid and isoflavones. Phytic acid blocks absorption of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. The phytic acid in soy beans is not reduced or neutralized by soaking, sprouting or long, slow cooking. Soy Isoflavones mimic estrogen in the body. Soy processing leads to the formation of toxic nitrosamines (carcinogens) and the formation of MSG. Additional MSG is often added to soy products during manufacturing. Many soy products contain high levels of aluminum.

I think this was just blogged for me! Lover of beets and looking for my memory!!!!
For todays Tea Mediation I picked out SAGE tea. It is a wonderfully mild tea and I love it plain or sometimes with a little crushed strawberry. Don’t forget to strain it, some my not appreciate the strawberry floaters!!
Sage itself has many health benefits. Just to lay on you a little herbal wisdom: Sage is a great anti inflammatory, documented to help with asthma, sore throats and even cramps and bloating. The benefits of anti inflammatory properties are endless. The personal benefit to me has been a decrease in menopausal sweats. Just taking time out for any kind of tea break has its RELAXATION benefits!
Sleep – We all do it every nite! And we all know it is important on a lot of levels! It has been well documented how “good sleep” has anti-aging effects, heart health as well as stress relief! I have been experiencing sleep problems. Part is that ugly menopause thing! Plus having kids wrecks your bladder and god knows peeing will wreck your sleep cycle. I know everyone’s sleep issues are different! I am able to get to sleep well, but like clock work I wake between 3-4 in the morning! I am not ready for hard-core pharmaceutical sleep aids yet!! I tried the Tylenol PM route but go to sleep and still wake around 3 am. There are also the “mid-nite aids” but depending on the time of your mid-nite you have a chance of still waking up groggy. A few weeks ago I happened to hear a lecture from a nutritionist about sleep. Most of the information I already knew; Decrease caffeine, decrease sugar, increase exercise and decrease alcohol consumption. Well I have been trying all those things and still wake a 3 am!
BUT HERE WAS THE GOOD PART! Your blood sugar can drop at night which can affect your sleep cycle. This makes great sense! The recommendation was 2 tsp of raw almond butter right before bed. Been trying for 7 days now and with the exception of the night I had 4 glasses of wine my sleep patterns have really improved!!! Will report back on this in a few weeks.
